Active Buzzer Module / Breadboard Buzzer

The Active Buzzer Module / Breadboard Buzzer is a compact 3.3V–5V DC sound alert module for Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi Pico, robotics and DIY electronics projects. With an internal oscillator, it produces a continuous beep when triggered, so no PWM tone generation is required. Ideal for alarms, timers, button feedback, fault indicators and classroom prototyping, this breadboard-friendly buzzer module is easy to drive from a digital output pin.

About Active Buzzer Module / Breadboard Buzzer

Add a clear audible alert to your electronics project with this Active Buzzer Module, also commonly called a breadboard buzzer module. Unlike a passive buzzer, an active buzzer has a built-in oscillator circuit, so it generates a fixed continuous tone when power or the trigger signal is applied. This makes it very simple to use with Arduino, ESP32, ESP8266, Raspberry Pi Pico, STM32 and other microcontroller boards where you need a beep, alarm or status sound without writing PWM sound-generation code. The module typically operates from 3.3V to 5V DC, making it suitable for both 3.3V logic and 5V logic systems. A digital GPIO pin can be used to switch the buzzer ON or OFF; common active buzzer modules use a high/low trigger input, and many variants are active-low. At 5V, the operating current is around 30mA, so for best practice, check the current capability of your controller pin or drive it through a transistor if your application needs extra protection or continuous operation. The buzzer produces a continuous tone around 2.5kHz, which is suitable for notification sounds, alert beeps, countdown timers, robot warnings and simple user-interface feedback. It is widely used in Arduino starter kits, STEM labs, IoT projects, security systems, obstacle detection projects and mini alarm circuits. The compact PCB form factor and simple VCC, GND and signal connection make it convenient for breadboard testing and quick wiring with jumper cables. Package includes one Active Buzzer Module / Breadboard Buzzer. Pin labels may vary by batch, but typical pins are VCC or “+” for supply, GND or “-” for ground, and S/I/O for the digital trigger signal. Always verify the printed labels on the module before connecting power.
