Arduino Micro (ATmega32U4) – Compact USB Development Board with Native HID Support
The Arduino Micro (ATmega32U4) is a compact, breadboard-friendly microcontroller board that packs the full power of the ATmega32U4 chip — including native USB communication — into a remarkably small 48 mm × 18 mm footprint. Unlike the Arduino Uno or Nano, the Micro's ATmega32U4 microcontroller has built-in USB support, which means the board can appear to a connected computer as a USB HID device: a keyboard, mouse, gamepad, or even a MIDI controller — all without any extra drivers or fiddly USB-to-serial converter chips. This opens the door to creative DIY projects like custom macro keypads, gesture-based mouse controllers, retro gaming peripherals, and USB-connected sensors that talk directly to your PC. The board runs at 16 MHz with 32 KB of flash memory (4 KB used by the bootloader), 2.5 KB of SRAM, and 1 KB of EEPROM. It exposes 20 digital I/O pins — 7 of which can generate hardware PWM — plus 12 analogue inputs via a 10-bit ADC. A micro-USB port handles both programming and power, while the on-board ICSP header and reset button provide makers with full low-level access. The recommended input voltage range is 7–12 V, and the board regulates everything down to a clean 5 V operating voltage. The Arduino Micro is officially supported in the Arduino IDE (select "Arduino Micro" from the Board Manager), so you get the entire Arduino ecosystem: thousands of libraries, ready-to-run examples, and a huge global community. Whether you're a student building your first USB gadget, a maker prototyping a wearable, or an IoT developer who needs a tiny Linux-compatible node, this board is a reliable, well-documented choice. We stock the official, Made-in-Italy Arduino Micro (SKU A000093, without headers; A000053 with pre-soldered headers also available separately). Note that a micro-USB cable is not included in the box — you can add one from our accessories section. Each board is RoHS-compliant and ships in anti-static packaging to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.
