About BNO055 IMU
The Bosch BNO055 is an intelligent System in Package (SiP) that combines a triaxial 14-bit accelerometer, a triaxial 16-bit gyroscope with ±2000 dps range, and a triaxial magnetometer. Unlike standard IMUs, the BNO055 features an integrated 32-bit ARM Cortex-M0+ microcontroller running Bosch's proprietary sensor fusion software. This allows it to output fully processed absolute orientation data (Euler angles, quaternions, rotation vectors) directly, offloading heavy computational tasks from the host microcontroller. The sensor operates at 3.3V or 5V logic levels and communicates via I2C or UART interfaces. It is ideal for applications requiring precise orientation tracking, such as robotics, drones, virtual reality headsets, and augmented reality systems.
