The pack brings together the most widely used indicator LED colours—red, green, yellow and RGB—so you can quickly prototype status lights, warning indicators, model lighting, Arduino outputs, Raspberry Pi GPIO experiments and basic STEM learning circuits without buying each colour separately. These are standard through-hole LEDs, typically used on breadboards, perfboards and PCBs. A light emitting diode turns on when it is forward biased and sufficient current flows through it. Because LEDs are current-driven devices, they must always be used with a series resistor or a constant-current driver. For general 5V microcontroller projects, values such as 220Ω to 1kΩ are commonly selected depending on desired brightness and LED colour. Red and yellow LEDs usually have a lower forward voltage than green and RGB blue/green channels, so resistor choice should be calculated for each circuit.
