Project Details
How It Works
The Arduino generates a PWM signal on pin D9 that controls the MOSFET gate. The MOSFET acts as a switch, turning the LED strip on/off rapidly. By varying the PWM duty cycle, the perceived brightness changes. The 220Ω resistor limits current to the MOSFET gate, while the 10kΩ resistor pulls the gate low when Arduino is off. The diode protects against back EMF from the inductive load of the LED strip. The external 12V power supply provides sufficient current for the LED strip, while Arduino controls the switching safely.
Prerequisites
Basic understanding of Arduino programming (setup and loop functions), familiarity with PWM concepts, and knowledge of basic electronics (resistors, transistors, and power supplies).
