Project Details

This project implements a differential drive mobile robot controlled via Bluetooth. The system uses the HC-05 module to create a wireless serial link between a smartphone and the Arduino microcontroller. Commands transmitted from the phone are interpreted by the microcontroller to drive DC motors through an H-bridge motor driver. The robot's movement is achieved using two independently driven wheels. By varying motor direction combinations, the robot can move forward, backward, rotate, or turn. This principle is widely used in autonomous robots and robotic vehicles.

How It Works

The system works in three layers: 1) Communication Layer: The smartphone sends characters (F, B, L, R, S) over Bluetooth, which the HC-05 converts into serial data. 2) Control Layer: The Arduino reads incoming bytes and executes decision logic based on the command. 3) Actuation Layer: The L298N motor driver energizes the DC motors in specific polarity combinations to create movement. By varying which motors run forward or backward, the robot can move forward, backward, rotate left/right, or stop.
