Project Details
How It Works
The ESP32 communicates with the PZEM-004T module via UART (Serial2). The PZEM module measures AC voltage, current, power, and energy from the connected load. The ESP32 reads these values and can display them locally on an LCD/OLED, send them to a web server, or transmit them to cloud platforms like ThingSpeak or Firebase via Wi-Fi. The system can also trigger alerts if overcurrent or overvoltage conditions are detected.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of electronics, familiarity with Arduino IDE and C++ programming, understanding of AC power concepts, and experience with ESP32 or similar microcontrollers. Safety awareness when working with AC mains is essential.

Tools Required
Safety Precautions
Electrical
- ⚠Only work with AC if you are confident and insulated properly
- ⚠Never touch live wires
- ⚠Use a fuse or breaker for safety
- ⚠Ensure proper grounding
Handling
- ⚠Keep ESP32 and module away from high heat
- ⚠Ensure proper isolation between high voltage and low voltage circuits
Operating
- ⚠Energy readings accumulate over time, so reset or log periodically
- ⚠Verify connections with a multimeter before applying power
