Project Details

The ESP32 LoRa Communication project allows ESP32 devices to exchange data over several kilometers using LoRa (Long Range) radio technology. Unlike Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, LoRa is designed for low data rate but ultra-long-distance communication. The system uses two ESP32 nodes with LoRa modules for transmitter and receiver functionality, enabling applications like smart agriculture, remote weather stations, smart cities, and asset tracking. The project demonstrates packet-based data transfer with SPI interfacing and is ideal for low-power IoT designs that don't require internet connectivity.

How It Works

The system consists of two ESP32 nodes with LoRa modules. The transmitter ESP32 reads data, packetizes it, and sends it via the LoRa module. The receiver ESP32 continuously listens for incoming packets, decodes them, and displays the data. Communication occurs over SPI interface between ESP32 and LoRa module, with the LoRa radio handling the wireless transmission using frequency bands like 865-867 MHz (India/Asia), 868 MHz (Europe), or 915 MHz (USA).
