Project Details

The ESP32 RTSP Camera Streaming project uses the ESP32-CAM module to capture video frames and stream them using the RTSP (Real Time Streaming Protocol). The stream can be viewed on desktop or mobile applications such as VLC Media Player. This project is ideal for DIY CCTV systems, smart home surveillance, baby monitors, and IoT vision nodes. The ESP32-CAM connects to Wi-Fi, captures JPEG frames, packetizes them for RTSP, and runs an RTSP server on the ESP32. Clients can connect using the RTSP URL to view live video in real time.

How It Works

The ESP32-CAM connects to a Wi-Fi network and initializes the camera. It captures JPEG frames and packetizes them for RTSP streaming. An RTSP server runs on the ESP32 at port 8554. Clients connect using the RTSP URL format (rtsp://ESP32_IP:8554/mjpeg/1) to view the live video stream. The system handles frame capture, encoding, and network transmission in real time.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of ESP32 programming, familiarity with Arduino IDE, understanding of Wi-Fi networking concepts, and experience with camera modules. Users should know how to install board packages and libraries in Arduino IDE.
