Project Details

This project demonstrates a smart home automation system using an ESP32 microcontroller. It monitors temperature and humidity using a DHT11 or DHT22 sensor and displays readings on an optional 16x2 LCD. The system controls a 5V relay module to switch appliances on/off based on sensor data. Users can access the system via a web interface from any smartphone or PC browser, enabling remote monitoring and control. The project uses Arduino IDE with ESP32 board package and required libraries for WiFi, web server, and DHT sensor.

How It Works

The ESP32 connects to your WiFi network and creates a web server. The DHT11 sensor continuously measures temperature and humidity, sending data to the ESP32. The ESP32 processes this data and displays it on the optional LCD. A web interface allows users to view real-time sensor readings and manually control the relay to switch appliances on/off. The system can be programmed to automatically control appliances based on sensor thresholds (e.g., turn on fan when temperature exceeds 30°C).

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of Arduino programming, understanding of digital I/O pins, familiarity with WiFi concepts, and experience with breadboard prototyping. Users should also know how to install libraries in Arduino IDE.
