Project Details

This project demonstrates how to control a thermal printer using an ESP32. You can print sensor readings (temperature, humidity, gas levels), text messages, receipts, QR codes, or barcodes. It uses TTL serial communication to send commands to the printer and is ideal for IoT dashboards, home automation logs, or DIY receipt printers. The system architecture follows: Sensors/Input → ESP32 → Thermal Printer → Printed Output.

How It Works

ESP32 reads data from sensors or receives serial input. The data is formatted as a string or text. ESP32 sends commands via TTL serial (GPIO 17 TX to printer RX) to the thermal printer. The printer processes these commands and prints the text in real-time. The system uses the Adafruit Thermal library to handle printer-specific commands and formatting.
